Packetcluster is "payware". However, the packetcluster software is only
used by the packet nodes in the network. Individual users dont need the
software. IE, you must have a packetcluster node that your TNC can hear in
order to get spots, but your computer just runs the contest software, which
is already set up to receive spots sent by the nodes in the packetcluster
formats. You dont even have to be connected to the node as long as someone
else on the frequency is connected and receiving spots.
Check with your local DX or contest club for local VHF/UHF frequencies. If
unavailable in your area, you might try tuning around on 30 meters for an
active node.

I have never used a packet cluster aid during contests but am considering
it for CQWW in October. Where does one get PacketCluster software--and is
it freeware, shareware, or payware ?
