The simple answer is to copy the zone that is sent and enter it instead of
accepting the default provided by the CTY file.
To do this easily, press the space bar after entering the callsign and just
type the zone as copied.
Russians have always been a problem for consistent zone assignments. In
the U.S., the callsign does not necessarily indicate the zone. For example,
K5ZD is in zone 5, but a callsign with a 5 in it normally indicates zone 4.
