If you mean when you are using the CW "Keyboard Mode" what you have observed
is correct.  When you activate CW Keyboard mode, the keyboard is dedicated
to sending typed out CW.

Under what circumstances has this been an issue ?

CT 9.7 is used for direct keying of a Kenwood TS930 (not a programmable
rig).

Whenever the keyboard is being used to key the transmitter, the callsign
field  is inopperative.  I cannot check partial or check for dupes until I
turn off the keying and switch back to logging mode.  Is this normal?
