It doesn't prevent you from making Q's. It just calculates the on and off
times for your pleasure. In a contest such as SS, I keep a paper log of my
times on and off so that I know when I have reached 24 hours exactly. There is
no problem taking 29 minutes off, it just won't count as your off time in SS.
If you are not close to 24 hours, it is a moot point.

No it isn't. I was mobile (parked) this weekend and did a couple of hours in
CW SS with a paper log and a mini key. It was fun, but I wouldn't want to do
it for 24 hours. I didn't appreciate the people asking for a complete repeat.
I didn't keep a dupe sheet, which is a problem. No band map, no auto cq, etc.
And there is no ALT-W button. Actually, there is, it is on the end of your
pencil. Made for a messy log sheet.
