Try placing a diode in series with the LPT port connection to isolate 
the keyed circuit..  Also make sure that in your computer BIOS setup you 
have the LPT-1 configured for bi-direction or try the choices in the 
BIOS that are available. One of the setting should should work for 
proper keying for you.
