CW STATUS is always on my CTWIN screen.
Try the following if you haven't done so already:
Change the speed and see if the STATUS comes back,
Change to keyboard mode abd see if the STATUS comes back.

If those fail, start CT with the -r argument.  It will reset all the windows to 
default positions, putting the STATUS back on screen if it got moved off.
