Well writing whatever SNMP value to start a link test between 2 radios
is different. They also silently store S/N and other statistics for
everything they can see. I would suggest looking at the MIB from
karlnets site to see what kind of variables there are available. If you
open a viewer you might not see it normally. You want to start looking

I am not sure why, but as I read your letters about conversion, etc, I
am puzzled. I can open a SNMP viewer, and simultaneously open a link
test in the config program and see the DB levels for noise and signal in
the values, and ergo, I can graph it and monitor shots all over my net.
I could send a screen shot if you would like. I am at the point know
where my only problem with it is trying to figure out what particular
SNMP values are changed to open a link test, and I think I have that
down as well.

I'm toying with some other metrics, not sure if it will be practical but
the clients register with the base and exchange "hello" packets, there
are 3 types: "excellent", "good", and "low". I think the NDIS client
link tests report those numbers too, I have to check and see what they
match up to, but you could average those numbers out and figure out the
average speed that the client is registering with the base, could be a
useful metric for link quality especially if you compared it with SNR.
I've added a graph of this using a quick estimate of how to possibly
calculate that value.
