The Radios in the KN-205's are Intersil Based Veritech 200mW Cards.

The KN-50's are a mixture of Intersil Based Veritech 100mW cards and the
Karlnet supplied Dell 30mW Cards.

Agreed they need to get new firmware out, and better communication with
customers would also be good!

What radio cards are you running?

The problem is the retrans I bet. I have had this problem also. The
KN50's need firmware upgrades. Don't upgrade your kn205 to -02 yet.
If you can try going to -00. Get your retrans down best you can. Also
try lowering the link speed from the kn50 to the network to as low as
you can.

You may only have one customer who is actually causing this problem. IT
will be the one with the highest retrans. You can try also swapping the
radio card.

IMHO, KN has a problem here and they need to get f/w for the KN50's out
soon that support the intersil to fix this retrans problem. And also
need Kn205 f/w that have better intersil support also. Right now my 205
is relativily stable with only 2 clients but if one gets alittle crazy
downloading, it kills me. Mostly now at -00 I just get locked up and
have to reboot. At -01,02 it would lock up and need a force reload.

I am going to stay at -00 until they come out with better support for
intersil. And only deploy Agere cards in the kn50.

Subject: [Karlnet] 5 Minute Total Loss of Traffic on KN-205

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a strange problem with the
KN-205's, running the 4.44-01 firmware.

We have 3 KN-205 boards in service all on different sites. About every
2-3 days clients will stop responding for around 5 minutes and then they
are fine again.

I managed to catch one of the sites do it today, and when l look at the
turbocell station entries, you can see the re-transmit counters
incrementing and nothing else.

I ran a Wireless Link Test on some of the clients and it runs normally
with no issue, shows good strong signal and no packet loss.

It's a bit like the bridging side of the system just stops and then
starts again. All the time the KN-205 is full accessible for management
and doesn't reboot.

All our clients are KN-50's, 2 of the KN-205's have around 6 clients
each the other has 16 clients.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Regards,
Phillip Britt
