this message was actually directed to the person you replied to =)

It was not referencing your email other than the fact that I agree that 4.45 works well.

I see the word non-polling in your text, and I posted earlier this week a message talking about having had poor throughput until I turned polling on on a PtP link that was in base->satellite mode. If you are running a base-station, turn on polling and see if your problems go away. I would venture to say probably they will.

We were having speed problems with V4.45 too. Replaced an old ap1000
running v4.43 with kn200 running V4.45. One radio in turbo cell
satellite mode and the other in 802.11b Ap mode(both old orinoco silver
cards). The satellite radio is connected to another kn200 running base
software v4.44 non polling(only talks to 3 other satellites which can
all see each other) at 2.5 miles out. Snr on both ends of link is 30db.
Ping times were all over the place and customers complaining of no
speed. A couple of bandwidth tests to dslreports showed 20k down, 5k up.
No wonder they were complaining. All the other satellites are running
v4.43 and all are ap1000's with no problems. All configuration on new
kn200 satellite were done with v5.0 configurator.
Well today we flashed that firmware from v4.45 to v4.43 and all
our speed problems are gone. Don't even want to try v4.44. It is as
solid as ever. Just thought I would share our experience with the new
firmware.

Phil,

The Hermes I and Intersil builds are combined, Hermes II is separate.

Thanks for the info. Can you confirm if different releases are required for the different radio boards. We use Intersil based radios, from the licence-it.com site it looks like we can only download the one file - is this correct?

Thanks,
Phil

Hello all,

After discussing this with our main build engineer he states the version
5
of the Configurator must be used with the 4.45 kernel. This is most
likely
the source of the issue. We will be adding am item to the release notes
to
make this more clear. The ping fill test is enabled in version 5 so the
"engineering releases" should no longer be necessary. Thanks,

The speed of V4.45 is very slow. We loaded the new bin file into

RG-1100.

Pingfill test is just about 1.5 to 1.7M.

When we switched back to old version, pingfill test is 4.5M.

Is there any special configuration ?
