Tim, K9TM reports, concerning the FT1000MP:
"Yaesu wants at least 50ms from assertion of PTT to the assertion of any CW"
Even if NA were to offer such a delay, I question whether fast CW ops will find
the result satisfactory. 50 mS is essentially the time for a complete dot ("on"
time and its associated "off" time) at 50 WPM. While not many of us run at 50
WPM (even in contests), imagine what the paddle action would be like if when you
press the paddle you had to wait for a full dot time before any CW started.
Admittedly, this only occurs on the first element during a RX-to-TX transition,
but can you imagine what it would be like trying to get the first character
correct when sending a "W" call at high speed? Yuk.
It would be interesting if anyone knows someone who is using TRLog in this way
with the FT-1000MP. This does not lessen the impetus to implement this feature
in NA, but it will be a bummer to go all that work just to find that the
resultant operation is unsatisfactory.
So, someone go on a spy mission in TRLog territory...
Thanks for K9TM for rousting up this answer. Tim is quite often relentless in
his pursuit of technical truth...

Dave/K8CC
