Guys,

Thanks very much to those who wrote with suggestions concerning the
setup for NA and my laptop with the K2 serial interface. I'm pleased to
report that the K2 interface now works as advertised with NA. The major
problem was that my computer used IRQ 3 for COM1 rather than the more
standard IRQ 4 for COM1.

Now, I have another problem that someone may have had some experience
with.

NA will not key the rig.

Background is that I have a cable built according to Dave's instructions
in the NA manual. This cable worked fine through LPT1 with my previous
laptop which was a 486 running Windows 95 at 50MHz. The new Laptop is a
Pentium II NEC Versa Note, running Windows 98 at 266 MHz. I think Dave
or someone mentioned a problem with some laptops.

I want to use the same cable and a parallel port for keying. The
Parallel port is enabled in the BIOS as an ECP port. The NA config.exe
equipment set up has the CW port as LPT1 and the Paddle port as LPT1.
The Radio is identified as a KENWOOD1 and as Radio #1, with no Radio #2.

Neither the paddle nor the computer will key the rig. If I turn on the
sidetone, I can hear the computer sending code as it should.

I have just loaded NA 10.57, so it's possible that I missed something in
the setup.

Anyone got any ideas before I start ripping the cable apart?
