Bill W4ZV mentioned: "N1EU has several examples of Diversity RX
here:http://www.qsl.net/n1eu/orion/diversity.htm If you poke around Barry's
website, he also has examples comparing weak signals on Orion with aFT-1000D
somewhere on his site."
Although you might have to put up with some ads (unless you use Firefox), my
Tripod site is probably much faster at
http://n1eu.tripod.com/orion/diversity.htm
I just put up two new audio clips today where I switch back and forth between
stereo diversity with two antennas and mono with one antenna. One of the clips
is on 20M ssb and uses a yagi and a Beverage antenna. If you have a "lowband"
receiving antenna, you might want to give a listen to how much it can help pull
out the weak ones on the higher bands as well. Fortunately (or unfortunately),
the Orion is the only ham transceiver that has ever offered stock diversity
reception capability with antenna and vfo tuning flexibility.
I had removed the FT-1000D weak signal reception comparison from my Web site
(it was recorded a year ago and I've wanted to do a better job), but I put it
back up for a while if anyone wants to listen to that as well since Bill
mentioned it.
73,
Barry N1EU
P.S. My previous attempt to post this message resulted in "Your message to
TenTec awaits moderator approval" so I'll probably start posting to the Orion
list in the future instead
