I'd say that's the right thing to do.

I've never had a hardware problem with either of the Orion I boxes I've
owned (still have one of them), but had to send my II back twice to get a
flakey logic board replaced.  Somewhat irritating (understatement), but it
ended up fixed and stable.  

Still far better than my experience with another vendor some years ago to
get their "top of the line" radio fixed.  I finally had to reduce line
voltage to 100V with a bucking transformer to keep the power supply (built
to certain Asian voltage specifications) from roasting itself to oblivion
every couple of years at US line voltage levels :-)
