Details regarding the M-class flare of 19 Jan 2010:
This originated from returning sunspot region 1039, at the position
approx. S25E88. It peaked at 1341 UTC at a level of M2.3, causing a
R1-class radio outage. Noise reported on 40-meter emergency frequencies
near Haiti, is an example of noticable radio outages. This is the first
M-class flare since 2008, an M1.7 at 1856 UTC, March 25, 2008.
Returning region 1039 promises to provide at least initial additional
activity, as can be seen in X-ray graphs.
