10.70-cm flux rose a sharp ten points to 88, and another M-Class flare at
2137 UTC (M1.3), 2010-FEB-06. The 15-meter amateur band is hoping with
trans-oceanic and trans-equatorial DX. While the flares are causing radio
blackout conditions over sunlit regions, the overall increase in higher-HF
propagation is noticeably encouraging after a number of years without
significant solar activity. The ten-point increase appears to have caused
enough change in ionospheric energy to strengthen mid-HF propagation.
Expect more excitement over the next 48 hours.
