Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2017 Dec 29 1230 UTC.

Solar Activity

24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low. A B8 flare was observed from a plage region near the NE limb at 28/2229 UTC. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.

Forecast: Solar activity is expected to remain very low all three days (29-31 Dec).

Energetic Particle

24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached moderate levels. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux continued at background values.

Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at normal to moderate levels all three days (29-31 Dec). The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to remain at background levels all three days.

Solar Wind

24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters, as measured by the DSCOVR spacecraft, reflected mostly nominal conditions. Total magnetic field strength remained steady near 5 nT. No significant periods of sustained southward Bz were observed. Solar wind speed generally declined throughout the period within a range of 350-450 km/s. Phi angle was predominantly in the negative sector.

Forecast: The solar wind environment is expected to be at nominal levels on days one and two (29-30 Dec). An enhancement is expected late on day three (31 Dec) due to the arrival of a recurrent positive polarity CH HSS.

Geospace

24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet.

Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to mostly quiet on days one and two (29-30 Dec). Quiet to active levels are expected on day three (31 Dec) due to CH HSS influence.
