Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2019 Jan 07 1230 UTC.
Solar activity was very low. Region 2732 (N09, Lo=215, Bxo/beta) rotated off the visible disk. Imagery of a slow-moving CME, first observed in SOHO LASCO C2 imagery at 06/2000 UTC, suggested no Earth-directed component was present. No other Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels on 07-09 Jan.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels, and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was steady at background levels.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach high levels levels on 07-09 Jan. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels on 07-09 Jan.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters, as measured by the DSCOVR satellite, indicated waning influence of a negative polarity CH HSS. Total magnetic field strength was at or below 6 nT. Solar wind speeds steadily declined from a peak of 565 km/s at 06/1352 UTC to around 480 km/s by the periods end. Phi angle was oriented in the negative sector.
Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to continue their decline over 07 Jan as CH HSS effects wane. A return to background levels is expected on 08-09 Jan.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels.
Forecast: The geomagnetic field will trend towards mostly quiet levels over the next three days (07-09 Jan) as influence from the CH HSS transitions to an ambient solar wind environment.
