Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2021 Jan 25 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity was at very low levels. Region 2799 (N23W65, Bxo/beta) grew in spot development and produced B-class activity. Region 2797 (S17W22, Hax/alpha) remained stable and inactive. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed during the period.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels, with a slight chance for C-class activity, on 25-27 Jan.
Energetic Particles
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background values.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be at normal to moderate levels while the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels for 25-27 Jan.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were indicative of negative polarity CH HSS influences. Total magnetic field strength was elevated and reached a maximum of 12 nT while the Bz component underwent several sustained southward deviations. Solar wind speeds increased from near 350-525 km/s by the end of the period. Phi was predominantly in a negative orientation.
Forecast: Enhancements in the field are expected through the 26th as an isolated, negative polarity CH moves into a geoeffective position. A gradual return to background conditions is expected by 27 Jan.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field reached active levels due to CH HSS influences.
Forecast: Unsettled to active conditions are anticipated through 25 Jan due to CH HSS influences. Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected for 26-27 Jan.
