Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2022 Dec 10 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity was at low levels. Multiple mid-level C-class flares were observed from new Region 3163 (S20E71, Dso/beta). The largest was a C6 at 09/1413 UTC. Slight decay and consolidation was observed in Region 3157 (N16W16, Esi/beta). Slight decay also occurred in the smaller spots of Region 3153 (S17W38, Fko/beta).
An asymmetric halo CME was first observed off the NW limb at 10/0248 UTC. The event appeared to be far-sided. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be low through 12 Dec with a chance for M-class (R1-R2, Minor-Moderate) flares.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at low to moderate levels. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to remain at low to moderate levels while the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels on 10-12 Dec.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters were enhanced but diminishing under a negative polarity CH HSS. Solar wind speed decreased from approximately 550 km/s to near 470 km/s. Total field ranged from 5-8 nT while the Bz component was between +/-7 nT. Phi angle was predominantly oriented in a negative sector.
Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to continue to diminish over 10 Dec. Nominal conditions are anticipated for 11-12 Dec.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled.
Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled on 10 Dec as solar wind conditions return to nominal levels. Quiet conditions are expected for 11-12 Dec.
