I have a Linksys switch that creates +40dB hash on every band when it is
powered on, even with no cables plugged into it.  It's awful - I put it in
the box and bought a Belkin 5 port switch and it works great, however
100-base-T will create problems.  I force all of my ethernet devices to
use 10-base-T and the noise disappears.
