Isn't that the reason why the recommendation to connect directly to the
negative battery terminal was made in the first place? To ensure a low
voltage drop at high currents? I don't think there are very many people
out there that measure the resistance between the negative battery lead
and the point on the chassis where they intend to ground the radio.
That's almost anywhere in a unibody
chassis.
Yes, when the car is new. After a few years that can be different,
however. Been there, done that. The nice thing about a bad battery to
chassis connection is that you'll probably find out about it before you
attempt to turn on your rig. :) (car may not start due to a constantly
rebooting ECM; no fuel pressure; chattering relays when you try to turn
on your lights without the engine running...)
