Questions first so you dont have to read everything.
Running a wire pair in CAT 5 to my splitter in the shack, is it better to
parallel all the pairs, leave them float, short all the unused pairs and leave
them float or short them and connect them to one wire of the main pair?
Should I repalce my 3000 kbps DSL splitter with a VDSL splitter left over from
a cancelled U-verse VDSL line?
I could not keep low band RF out of my new U-verse TV/VDSL so I cancelled it
and went back to regular DSL. I was able to eliminate > 40 meter RF by putting
a 0.33 ufd bypass on the voice line coming out of the splitter.
Sending CW with N1MM and having the wireless card engaged resulted in messed up
CW. I had to disable the wireless card to send CW, I.E. no internet.
The original DSL line was installed with a Potts Splitter at the house block
and I ran CAT 5 with one pair to the modem in the shack and another pair for
the second phone line in the shack. This systems worked OK by QRO still blew
away the modem on 160.
I relocated the Potts Splitted to the shack and put a 0.33 across the voice
line after the splitter. No more modem interference QRO on any band.
I also have a DSL filter on the phone line. No ferrite chokes.
BTW I have all of the K9YC info but didn't find anything on the pairs thing.
All thoughts appreciated,
Thanks,
RICK, N6PE
