Lets also not forget there were "mobile" phones prior to the : cell era (but were probably closer in tech to a 2M auto-patch) and were : hugely expensive. >From what I've read, and have at least one photo of, Fessenden built the first cordless telephone in 1902 and RCA came out with a mobile radio telephone "cellular" service in 1946.
