Bureaucrats & politicians who believe they are smarter than you
feel the need to control your choices.

Since you're presumably too dumb to be energy efficient (save
money), and to help them to save the planet (sigh), they feel
it's their duty to impose their will upon you.

They are, of course, too tunnel-visioned to understand the
consequences of the spectrum pollution they are creating ...
not to mention many other collateral consequences.

Welcome to Big Brother 2017.

Where is our voice?

USA/Global energy efficiency standards move manufacturers toward
switching supplies:

My first thought was, is it really a government law saying that they
MUST use that type of power supply?

The unfortunate side affect should be a substantial fine to Sangean.

I’m looking through the online operating manual for a Sangean AM/FM
radio I’m interested in buying, and I came across this little note in
the Cautions section. I didn’t know about the “background” cited, and
I do find Sangean very responsible to print this.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

Sangean suggests that you keep your AC Adapter at least 12 inches
away from the radio while listening to the AM Band.
Your Sangean Radio is powered by an AC adapter which is a “switching”
or “switch-mode” type. The DOE (Department Of Energy) has a Federal
mandate requiring all manufacturers to use this type of power supply.
This newer power saving technology has the unfortunate side effect of
causing interference to the AM radio band.
