When I purchased new MicroHam MicroKeyer II interfaces for each of our
contest station positions they required +12V power external power
supplies (recommended NOT from the same PS as the radio).

In our case the radios run on 120vac so 12V supplies aren't on all the
desks. Along with trying to replace cheap, RFI dirty switchers that came
with some headphone amp/ distribution boxes I searched and found just what
I needed from Jameco Electronics. I am just a satisfied customer.

As far as the MK2 is concerned the 500mA version is fine. The 1A version
might be the choice for the StationMaster (provided my memory of my
conversation with W4TV is correct).

Granted, lots people (including us) have repurposed used units from other
equipment /consumer goods. I didn't have the quantity I needed for this
upgrade. I think I've bought 15 by now (mix of 500mA / 1000mA).

JAMECO ELECTRONICS
P/N 162996 ReliaPro Product No.DDU120050 12V 500mA
Coaxial power connector: ID 2.1mm / OD 5.5mm, center positive.
P/N 170245 ReliaPro Product No. RDU120100 12V 1000mA
Coaxial power connector: ID 2.1mm / OD 5.5mm, center positive.
P/N 1953663 ReliaPro Product No. DCU1201000 12V 1000mA Coaxial power
connector: ID 2.5mm / OD 5.5mm, center positive.

There is another unit with center negative if you need it but only 200mA.
They run from $9 to $15 in single quantities and have price breaks at
quantities of 10, 50 and 100 pieces. Hey, besides FairRiite 31 cores,
here's another group buy item....

These are an in-house branded product they import from Taiwan (remember
them?). They've worked great for over two years, no problem. The 2.1mm size
is the most common needed. Check it out and confirm the specs and p/n
yourself.
