My mistake regarding keyfob remotes for alarms in this range from that time, 
I was thinking garage door openers, NOT remotes for alarms.  At that time, 
some systems were around 150 - 275 KHz (I have six remotes in this range), 
27.255 MHz (many more on this frequency, many for actual alarm systems, but 
not for cars), then later, from the late 1950's onward, 200 - 400 MHz (too 
many boxes of crap in this range) for garage door openers.  Automobile 
alarms were typically motion types without remote control, unless custom 
built.  Check ebay for vintage car alarms to see many examples.
