To All,

Those who are to install solar panels w/optimizers.....STAY AWAY FROM THE
ONES BY SOLAR EDGE.

They are notoriously noisy and RFI polluters...they have a humongous birdie
which is about every 100KHz. I have a large one from next door neighbor and
another house about 1/4 mile up the road from me on 50.098MHz. This seems
to occur every 100KHz (e.g. 49.998MHz, 50.098MHz, 50.198MHz, etc) but may do
this also @ 200KHz from what I am told.

Since I only operate 6m and 30m, I do not seem to have any issues on the 30m
band from what I can notice, just the 6m band as it tosses trash all over
the 50MHz spectrum and that very large birdie on 50.098MHz, right in the
middle of the CW portion too !

I was supposed to have an engineer/technician from Solar Edge come out to
the house a few weeks ago to check on the next door neighbors system...he
was a "no show".

The RFI can almost, but not 100%, be eliminated by installing ferrite cores,
beads and twist all the wires which go between the panels/optimizers and
into the metal conduit (it should be metal). Also a very large EMI filter
is also installed. QST had an article a couple of years back about how to
do this as one amateur radio op installed solar panels w/optimizers. Don't
know if he used Solar Edge or not.

Good luck to all who do this !
