I got darn sick and tired of filling out forms and calling people to get RFI
fixed.....and over 34 years...it never was.
I was 34 years in one location with a good tower and KLM antennas.
It got to the point that I had to put it to myself to decide to quit Amateur
Radio or move.
After getting my ticket in 60' like Dale.....decades later I decided that this
is not really a hobby and I couldn’t put up with the RFI any longer.
To me...a hobby Is something to do when there is absolutely nothing else to do.
So I moved.
Of course there were other reasons....but they all added up to getting on the
road.
I moved because I could.
I've been here for 14 years now and it was an easy decision.
No covenants, no homeowners, no permits for towers, no Indians looking
over/through the back fence.
Before I bought this place I spoke with the County folks about tower permits
etc, and the guy told me..."Gimme a call if you go higher than 100'...I'll let
the Sherriff's helicopter boys know".
I laughed myself giddy and signed the papers for this place....10 full acres
and a 3k' all brick home 5 years old for less than a down payment on my old 50
year old 1k' frame stucco joint.
It helps to have lived in the Tulsa area many decades ago but almost nothing
remains of back then.
The best thing going around here is....there is not a traffic jam of folks
moving here.
It’s a great place to live if you don’t need a job!
If anyone has been thinking about moving in order to continue with Amateur
Radio....don't be discouraged.
Get a grip on yourself like I had to do.....and just DO IT!
The reality is....RFI is never going to be fixed.

For a hobby I don’t think so. For MARS it will be different. Interference on
military frequenies takes to a higher level. I don’t plan to move anywhere.
I’ll have to tough it out and fill complaint forms when needed.

On the remote operation thing....what is the usual procedure?
Buy time from someone that has a good station out in the weeds or buy some
property and set up your own?
