All.
Solar Edge shut down my neighbors solar panel system this week which did
have some effect. Because it didn't disappear completely, they now think
the noise is being generated by another system in my area.
With that in mind, I went to my neighbors home with a portable HF
receiver and a loop antenna to test for noise. We turned off the main
breaker in the house before we began testing. The Solar Edge controller
showed no output so it was inactive as Solar Edge said it would be.
I turned on the HF receiver and immediately detected the same noise
heard on my home antennas. The noise was also detected when I placed the
antenna near the Solar Edge Controller located in the basement. It's the
same noise on the same frequencies so there's no mistake as to where
it's coming from.
We then went outside with the portable HF setup and the noise decreased
as we walked away from my neighbors home. I waited until the panels were
no longer illuminated by the sun and the noise disappeared as it always
does.
So the system is still generating RFI by a device that's being powered
by the solar panels with the system turned "off". To the best of my
knowledge, that device would be the optimizers and their switching power
supplies which can't be turned off.
The fact that the same noise is being detected at the controller seems
to indicate that the RFI is radiating into the basement and throughout
the system via the systems cabling.
Any thoughts?
