Under FCC rules, the device must meet radiated emissions limits about 30 MHz.
They are high enough that if a neighbor's device just meets the rules, you
could typically see about an S7 signal or noise level.

The solar systems must also meet conducted emissions limits below 30 MHz. These
apply ONLY to the noise conducted onto the AC mains. There are no conducted
limits on other long wires going to the panels, etc.

The European regulations are similar, so the German system is simply an
excellent one.

Hi Bill,

from my QRZ site you can see my 10KW installation out in the yard. ( zzzom in
on the detail satellite map page pix)

The SolarWorld panels connect to 2     5 KW SMA inverters,,, 5000TL which are
transformerless. These replaced 2  # 5000 units which became damaged with a
nearby lightning strike, induced into the long data lines. I replaced the data
lines with a wifi link eliminating the long ""antenna" into my data network.

Prior to purchase I took my kenwood tf6a on broadcast band ( it has builtin
loop ant)  and visited two sites with the proposed equipment.
ONLY when I got within INCHES of the SMA units, did I hear anything.

The German designed units are QUITE QUIET. I'm beginning to think the CE
certification must mean something, as opposed to the meaningless FCC mark.

When there is a quiet unit available, why not use that one ????
