Here is another interesting super portable, this one an inverter:

It was on sale cheap ($140? IIRC) at Home Depot, but isn't on the HD web site currently.

The 1# propane cylinder connector is junk , a tank/cylinder adapter/hose is a must.

Yep, my auto corrupt was working overtime there. When you are out of power for 2 weeks, the generator owns everything!

I have one of Harbor freight 2 cycle $79 generator, and I was surprised how well it works if you change a couple things. Updates on you tube. For a cheap setup you can leave at a tower (charging the batteries), and not worry if it's stolen, it's worth $79.

If you are depending on it for your life, buy a Honda!

Northern tool's Power house, Yamaha, and Harbor Freight.

Harbor Freight sells cheap junk, and a "product" you buy one day may be very different the next time you shop. It is not worthy of a product review.

W1RFI's comments on generator speed are well taken. We use only Honda 2000i gens on our CQP and 7QP county expeditions, running two identical stations, mostly CW, but also some SSB. Each station is a K3, KPA500, P3/SVGA, and KAT500. We use two generators, strapped together to sync them. Their speed varies and the voltage out varies, but the waveform remains good. A single 2000i runs about the same on a single station.

The plural of Honda is Hondas. Honda's is possessive -- a generator can't own things.
