The variable speed fan motors are bad news. Fixed speed or multiple fixed
speed (selected by winding) are fine. However the fan motor isn't the only
motor in the system. Look into the compressor too. There is also a lesser
chance that the controller board generates noise you can pick up. If
accessible during installation, some ferrite sleeves on the digital board's
wires are a good idea.
Both of my Daikin HVAC units are completely quiet but those models were
chosen with no PWM drive motors and I did put ferrites on the controller
board for extra insurance.

Hi Guys,
?I've seen posts where some Air Conditioners and Furnace units with
variable speed motors create RFI on the Ham Bands.? I'm thinking of
purchasing a new Carrier 3.5 ton Heat Pump, Model 25SCA542, with a "fixed
speed" blower and am wondering if anyone has had RFI issues with
