Thanks Bill. I think the incident I remember was at a south-suburban
church. Your memory may be better than mine.
For those reading the mail, Bill was a manufacturer's rep for a bunch of
top pro audio companies, including some pretty nice test equipment. Both
of us had previously worked in broadcasting. We were good friends in
Chicago; about 15 years ago, we bailed from the city that Daley #2
destroyed, Bill to W. PA, me to NorCal.

*IF THAT WAS ME *... it was not from the wireless mic receiver; BUT
unbelievably it was coming from an audio mixer that had a dc-dc
converter gone wild.... I remember it well.... We (you and I sniffed
it with my then crude SA) and then the factory flew up 2 guys with the
legit spectrum analyzer. ...and no one could believe it...till they
saw it .. sweeping across the input of the wireless receiver..That
sounded great on the NEW churches PA system.
still have two of those auto-mixers from 30 years ago...

........, we traced that sort of issue to instability in the preamp
for wireless microphone receivers. It helped that the contractor on
the project was a ham.
