Hi Don,

Did you mean to say the fourth weekend in December?
The third weekend (December 15-16) is the ARRL 10m contest.

If we don't want to interfere with the RTTY Sprint and
JARTS in October, that leaves two weekends for that month.
The first weekend in October is sacred here in California
for the CA QSO Party! The fourth weekend is CQWW SSB.
I definitely participate in both every year.

As a person who is active in CW and SSB contests,
I only participate in a maximum of three RTTY contests per
year: ARRL RTTY Roundup, NAQP RTTY, and CQ/RJ WPX.
I REALLY enjoy them, but I don't think I would operate in a RTTY
contest between October and December because that period
is so heavily packed with other major CW/SSB contests which
attract my heavy participation. Perhaps I am in the minority.
