Correct. And it is not a very good digital sine wave synthesizer at
that. It is, at best, 4-bit sine wave, which means there is at least
3% harmonic distortion.
Yep, it is a digital (woohoo!) synthesizer.
Since the sine wave synthesizer is fed off a 7.2 MHz rock, you
never have to worry if your shift is an accurate 170 Hz or not,
HI HI.
But I wouldn't call it clean.
