Both of those RS parts route the phono plug's tip and ring to separate
RCA jacks; your arrangement does not seem to yield one signal containing
both main and sub audio. However, one could combine the two using an
external summing circuit, which is what I'll do. Thanks for the hint,

The main receiver is the tip of the mini-phone plug, and the ring is the
sub-receiver. The barrel is ground for both. I use a Radio Shack
stereo-to-mono adapter plug with the tip connected to one phono jack and
the ring to the other. (Either R/S 274-369 or 274-883) I then split the
main one with a Y-cable, with that going to my HAL RTTY-1 tuning
indicator and also the left channel of the sound card. The ring goes to
the right channel of the sound card. I use it with MMTTY now (a HAL P38
before).
No menu is involved. See the drawing on page 4 of the manual and #14 on
page 35.

Yes, the SHIFT pin is the FSK input. Based on suggestions from the
RITTY/K6STI manual, I ran my 1000MP and later, the MARK-V with just a
1-K resistor in the line between the COM port FSK output and the RTTY
shift pin (no transistor, optoisolator etc) - worked VY FB.
I don't understand why Chen is suggesting using the Mic PTT or MOX
button instead of the RTTY connector PTT pin or just using rig control
PTT.
Another thing to note with this rig is that the PACKET (AFSK) and RTTY
(FSK) connector PTT pins are in parallel - Depending on how you make
your cables, you can save a PTT line. (You don't need separate PTT
lines for AFSK and FSK). 73
