Comments:

A lot more fun than I thought it would be. Bands were in decent shape despite
QRN most of the contest period on all bands. Good mults on 40 and 80 meters and
15 opened to EU right at sunrise Sunday morning - that was nice. No EU on 10
and
20 was not open to EU all night as it was last weekend.

What I liked about the contest was the fact that I had almost every year
multiplier
from 1948 to 2001 on 20M (missed 1989) fairly early so it forced me to stay on
40
and 80 at night seeking multipliers. Then just before sunrise, I checked 15 and
found EU signals. I was able to pick up a few more multipliers there.

The TS870 I'd been having trouble with finally crapped out about 8 hours into
the
contest and never came back alive (I used to be able to shut it off for an hour
and it'd start working again). The funny thing about that radio was that if I
used
it, it worked. If I let it sit (like I did for an hour) and not use it, then
it failed. Now
it's time to go to the Kenwood doctor. It didn't matter that I lost the radio,
I
got tired of keep track of band changes. I kept track of band changes using
Window's
calculator hi. Band change limits - hmm... why not just make us operate with
one
arm hand-cuffed to the chair? I did manage to move some multipliers and thanks
to those that moved for me.

Thanks to KH6ND who I think was my only 5-band contact. Thanks to everyone
for the QSO's.

Shattered the NA High Power record. Hope it stands. Decided to go high power
this year since I already had the low power record for NA from last year. I'm
beginning
to enjoy running high power. I will never have the antennas to compete with
the
big boys in CQWW but I haven't ruled out going high power next month.

First though is Teal season in 4 weeks. Time to get the shotgun out of
the closet because it's nearing that special time in Louisiana with duck
hunting and
RTTY contesting (CQWW, JARTS & WAE). My favorite time of year!
