Is anyone running an RF Parts 3-500ZG in an Ameritron AL-80B amplifier on RTTY?
My Amperex 3-500ZG failed last night. Looks like the RFP ZG is the best
choice as a replacement since Eimac no longer makes this tube (although there
may still be some Eimac tubes around).
I replaced the Amperex ZG tube with a used spare 3-500Z and it works OK but
the grid runs a little higher than the ZG tube and I'd rather get a new tube.
Still haven't decided if I'll go LP or HP. It all depends on the propagation
numbers.
Several years ago I promised not to make any predictions after a couple of
disastrous poor propagation contest weekends. I have an idea of how it's going
to be but I'm keeping quiet! hi
