The ARRL's recent endorsement of WinLink 2000 for EMCOMM ARES use raises some interesting questions for RTTY and other HF digital modes.

WinLink 2000 can use Pactor for HF links and supports Pactor III which is touted as being high speed etc.

Information I've seen seems to indicate that Pactor III can do 4800 baud on HF with a bandwidth of 2.8 khz.

Are there currently Pactor III stations running on HF and has anyone noticed their on-air apparent bandwidth's?

What frequencies do the Pactor III stations operate?

If substantial numbers of 2.8 khz bandwidth Pactor III stations start to appear on the HF bands in support of EMCOMM/ARES how will this impact RTTY operations and maybe other digital modes (PSK, MFSK, etc.) that traditionally have had some sharing/overlap of frequencies in the HF digital sub bands??
