50 watts for a 1000MP is where you should be. I think it says that in the
owner's manual. It's not meant to be run at 100 watts. The last radio I
had that was capable of full duty cycle was an Icom 751A; and it even stated
that in the manual. Certainly you can try creeping up to 70 or 80 watts at
the risk of the "Big Bake". Then again is it worth the extra 30 watts? I'd
use an amp and run the rig at 10 or 15 watts and let the amp do what it was
designed to do. Just a suggestion. See ya in the next contest.
