Hello
I and my friends have expiered that our Kenwood equipment stopped
"diddling" just a single tone.
This means at our TS2000 while TX'ing either with RASCAL MKV or
Microham's USB Keyer.
1th RIG :One time this IC on the FSK pin at TS2000 went down, it worked
ok with Rascal but wasnt able to work properly with microham box. After
disconnecting the microham box, the IC went total dead. Nomore diddle
out of the TS2000. SO NEVER try this. NEVER disconnect while Txing...it
is mostly your software.
2nd RIG: Worked nice with RASCAL, suddenly no more diddle. Got broken
during contest. This is coz I had disconnected the cable as I know with
the computer switched ON....
3rd RiG: works ok coz we have knew abt the problem, and do 100 %
procedure, when we disconnect cables we switch off all parts which can
destroy this IC.
So this can maybe be your problem also on the TS 870 ?
The service technician at Permo Electronics said that you cannot replace
this IC with a Mitsubishi equialent, coz this one coz broken after some
time. The orginal TS2000 part works much better, or in worst case u can
change the whole card in back of radio......
So I will never unplugged like I did b4 coz its very boring, I always
use my time to wait :)

The fsk modulator in my 870 has quit working. Menu settings are correct
and interface
is working properly. Any help before shipping off would be appreciated.
thanks
