Us dial-uppers do connect, but not 24/7 like you broadbanders. :-)
Where I live, we're lucky to have a phone, never mind broadband. No
VHF packet here, either. Put up a 13-element two meter beam to try to
connect to the Palm Springs node, but no luck. Too many mountains in between.
