Hello Noel andd the group,
Yes, Barry is correct, there is NO weighting for the QTC's, only for the
mults. I re-checked the rules, and cannot see where this idea may have come
from. It doesn't even relate to the CW/SSB legs, which have different rules
to that of RTTY.
Personally, I find it best to build up a 100 or so Q's on the lower bands,
and then start QTC's on the higher bands once they open. Chances are that
you will work that same station on 20m later in the contest anyway.
And remember, you can only exchange QTC's with someone on another continent!
This seems to be "forgotten" by a few each year.
There is no point in struggling to copy them on 80m with all the QRN etc on
that band, so wait till you find a station on 20m with a big enough signal.
I also cannot see the point in trying to exchange QTC's with a station you
can barely copy, as you are likely to end up with lots of repeat requests,
and you have to balance out the gains.
Last year, there seemed to be a lot of "one way propagation"..... for
example, K4GMH could hear me really well, but he was weak with me, so I sent
the QTC to him, and this worked fine.
Let's just hope for some decent propagation for WAEDC!
73 for now
