So, the new Elecraft K3 is improving this situation.  In the DATA mode, the
K3 can transmit either AFSK or FSK, and the display shows the Mark frequency
in both cases.  Of course, one could run AFSK in LSB (or, USB) mode on the
K3 and have a display frequency different than the Mark frequency.
