This was my first WAE in a part time effort. Yesterday the weather was
beautiful and members of my club got out and helped a debilitated ham get an
inverted-V in the sky. He had recently passed his General. But in all, I
managed about 18 hours of operation. Saturday AM was great into EU. This was
also my first experience with QTC traffic and this made the contest FUN !
N1MM Logger handled these chores with aplomb. This definitely will help
break the ice with other modes with QTC and the like.
I managed to exchange QTC with all continents except VK/ZL. Best DX was A3
answering my CQ. I figured out quickly that many would rather send than
receive QTC ! It does make it a bit more challenging since you have to be
sure the data is correct. Everybody was real good about repeats and most
repeated twice. Generally I said SRI QRU if I was running a pileup, and some
that I worked previously came back for QTC later. Some had simply too weak
or watery signal to pass QTC. All in all a great contest experience !
