Understand.  But if there is an issue with the QSO and you manually go in
and edit the exchange the '%L' doesn't apply.   That is,  most of the time
there is no problem, but there are a few times when you could inadvertently
erase a good contact before it is logged.  The point is that NILs can occur
for lots of reasons.  I gave one example that I've experienced but there are
lots of others.
