Glad to see a few others running simple antennas and low power.
Don't really have any idea if my result is credible or not..
Would like to see a few more results from others using simple rigs..ie
manually tuned. I run a 40 year old Drake set-up with a single wire
antenna. Its not very good on 80 but works pretty well on 40 and up. I
need to get my beam/tower back up in the air and I would like to try a
computer tuned radio.
I ran almost 100% S&P --I tried run-mode a couple of times over the
weekend but never seemed to get more than a couple of contacts
sporadically that way..suspect that I wasn't very visible in the
line-up. Did have my best rate ever though running during the last hour
or so of the contest and did 25/hr on 40M. I committed to staying with
the run mode and shortened the cq interval to almost no waiting between
thinking that dead air was the culprit. Also snuggled up just above a
big signal thinking I might get heard as stations moved up the band.
I can look forward to station improvements of a computer tuned radio,
some band mapping, and perhaps some spotting input--none of which I used.
Anywaay--lots of fun. looking forward to the next one.
