This will depend on the radio interfaced - most are straight through DB-9 to
DB-9 serial cables. There are rare rigs such as the FT-847 that require a
null modem cable. This is easy to build but if you have a straight serial
cable just get the null adapter from Radio Shack.

Not sure what you mean here. Is this a stand-alone box with DB-9 or
other ports on it and you need a USB cable? Or something else?
