I am deeply saddened.  I did know Tom.  We lived about a block away from each 
other at Elmendorf AFB.  I still have a terminal block he gave me as I was 
setting up a 28 ASR.  We communicated earlier this year via email.  I will 
definitely miss him, and send my deepest condolences to Mary and their children.
