Finally, someone puts this into proper context! Outside of a contest, we're 
only governed by the rules of our respective amateur radio governing bodies. 
Inside a contest, those rules, along with the rules of the contest apply.
Self spotting, outside a contest, IMHO not a problem?
Self spotting, during a contest, deserves disqualification?
